Workshops

Take back control of your life!

Releasing your emotional regulation ‘superpower’ starts with this interactive workshop!

Emotional regulation is your ‘superpower’! It is the foundation of self-esteem and resilience so is at the core of your mental health. It also underpins personal change so, whatever you want to achieve, it helps you make it happen!

Crucially, we ‘co-regulate’ with each other so regulated parents can help their children also become regulated. This significantly benefits their self-esteem and resilience as well as, ultimately, their mental health and progress through the ‘ups and downs’ of life.

This unique, interactive workshop is designed to guide you toward emotional regulation and personal change. Based on scientific evidence and ‘on the ground’ experience, it helps you experience the interconnection between your mind, your body, and the family/social/work systems you ‘inhabit’ so you can take back your control!

“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”

- Benjamin Franklin

  • Not everybody needs psychotherapy, but everybody could benefit from psychotherapeutic insights!

Neurobiological research shows that emotional regulation underpins both self-esteem and resilience. In contrast, a lack of emotional regulation may contribute to neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD and ASD.

Most of us have within us the psychological, emotional, and somatic resources we need to change our lives— however, we need to learn how to harness them. By uncovering the complex interactions between our body, mind, and ‘social’ systems, this workshop will help you re-frame your sense of yourself to enhance your own empowerment.

This unique research based workshop will involve you, from the very beginning, in experiencing and learning about personal change.

Full details of the workshop structure are provided here: https://www.joycering.ie/workshop-structure

Pre-workshop 'Shake it up!' homework is designed to kick start your change journey so you will be taking action from the moment you book your place.

This workshop has been designed by psychotherapists with extensive experience of what works in real life. Crucially, it is also delivered by qualified psychotherapists, so your experience is based on what is working in practice.

- Who is this workshop for?

  • This evidence-based experiential workshop is for you if:

    • You want to release your 'superpower' of emotional regulation

    • You sometimes feel anxious, indecisive, fearful, or uncertain.

    • You can think or reflect on yourself and want to initiate personal change.

This workshop will benefit you if you are experiencing some uncertainty or stress in your daily living. It will be particularly beneficial for you if you understand the potential of psychotherapy or personal coaching to improve your life and are willing to invest in your own empowerment but are unsure what to do next.

Research indicates that your relationship with your ‘self’ anchors your self-esteem. Without this being a strong anchor, we often underperform—but it doesn’t have to be this way! You may not fully realise your latent resources, including your ability, passion, and drive to succeed. This workshop is designed to begin nudging these dormant self-resources.

  • This workshop will draw on current research to suggest how parents' own emotional regulation and behaviour can influence the behaviours and emotional regulation of their children. In particular, it can help parents to reclaim their own power and influence to guide their family relationship towards more mutual respect and supportive emotional regulation.

Crucially, it can help parents restore the enduring role of the family relationship in their children's lives so that it can be a source of safety and security that buffers against life's inevitable adversities.Time spent with you as a regulated parent may also buffer the influence of social media and mobile phones - and help your children’s brains develop as nature intended!

  • Since the pandemic, Ireland has seen a significant increase in the demand for mental health services, with those under 30 years, and women in particular, being severely impacted. The work environment is generally stressful (American Psychological Association), and people particularly seek support because of their roles, their relationships at work, and the demands of their jobs.

Against this backdrop, this workshop is designed to introduce employees to a self-compassionate mindset, which research shows can empower them to confront difficulties head-on and avoid repeating mistakes. Such a mindset can also motivate employees to improve their weaknesses, procrastinate less, plan how to reach goals, and reengage after setbacks.

Self-compassion has also been shown to help with self-regulation at work as employees feel less depleted and have higher work self-esteem, resulting in optimal work engagement and resilience, which enhance performance through progress on daily work goals.

Because self-compassion can be a functional and malleable mindset, this approach can provide a simple, low-cost, and practical tool that employees can implement—regardless of workplace programs or support provided by others—allowing them to perform and feel better.
